The AACS girls varsity swim team finished 5th at the IAAM Championships on Monday, February 5. Rachel Hutchins took 1st in the 200 IM with a time of 2:15.46 in addition to first place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:11.11. Hutchins' times in both events also broke school records. Camille Smith earned 2nd in both the 50 freestyle (26.3) and 100 freestyle (1:00.44) in addition to breaking a school record in the 50 free. Verity Fogarty helped earned points for the Eagles with her 3rd place finish in the 500 freestyle (6:45.16). The 200 freestyle relay team of Hutchins, Sara Martin, Fogarty, and Smith finished 3rd and also broke a school record with a time of 2:00.66. The team finished with 179 total points.
Coach Kaila Moore said, "The girls have been so dedicated this season and have always shown a positive attitude. It was nice to see the girls break several records at championships and see all their hard work pay off. I am beyond proud of them and am honored to have coached them. They were the definition of small, but mighty this season."
