September Athletes of the Month

Meadow Mackey

Year: Freshman

Sport: Cross Country

Meadow has come in as a noteworthy freshman on the cross country team.  She finished 28th in the Barnhart Invitational with a time of 21:55.  During her first IAAM meet, she took 5th.  She came in 1st against Severn and IND with a time of 21:07.  Her 3rd place finish against St. Paul's and Garrison Forest helped secure their first conference wins of the season.  Meadow has a bright future ahead of her with the cross country team.

Hunter Steinau

Year: Senior

Sport: Cross Country

Hunter has had a record breaking start to the season.  During the Barnhart Invitational, he finished 6th overall and also broke the school record with a time of 16:23.8.  He earned a 5th place finish in the Bull Run Invitational and 17th in the Spike Shoe Invitational.  Hunter was recognized by Maryland Milesplits as one of seven break out runners for 2019.  He serves as a team captain and continues to lead by example in both practices and races.

"Hunter came into the season as the fastest junior in team history and is now the fastest runner in team history. He sets wise training goals and races with passion, intensity, and grit.  Hunter's commitment to training well has earned him the attention of a number of universities and he is planning to run in college."
