Volleyball Wins It All In B Conference

The AACS girls varsity volleyball team claimed the IAAM B Conference championship title with a 3-1 win over Maryvale on Saturday, October 28.  After falling behind after the first game, the Eagles came back and won the next three games to win it all.

Freshman Milan Gomillion led the team with 13 kills and went 11 for 12 serving.  Sophomore Becca Short went 18 for 20 serving including an ace.  Senior Sophie Thompson had 9 kills and 3 blocks.  Sophomore Skylar Emert added 7 kills.  Senior Morgan Lang tallied 29 assists. Junior Nicole Garner had 9 digs, 5 blocks, and went 15 for 17 serving, including 3 aces.  Junior Grace Williamson had 10 digs while senior Megan O'Rourke added 8 digs.

Senior Morgan Lang said, "When we're faced with a challenge, we just buckle down and fight through.  We never got angry or frustrated with each other, and I think that helps a lot.  This is so satisfying.  I've wanted this for a long, long time."

Coach Marianne Graham said, "We've been very successful the last three years.  We've built our team around a good, solid defense and I think that's what helps grow a program.  Everybody on this team contributed to the success we've had this year.  Everybody contributed to this championship, one way or another."
