Lynskey Signs With Christopher Newport University

Nicole Lynskey has signed with Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA to play lacrosse.  Lynskey has been a three-year varsity player at AACS and also did a year of cross country and a year of cheerleading.  With 11 years of experience behind her, she has helped anchor the defense and is one of the current captains on the girls varsity lacrosse team.

Lynskey chose Christopher Newport for the small tight knit community with great school spirit.  With the beautiful campus and high level academics, she knew Christopher Newport was the place for her.  She will be apart of the leadership program while there and will major in business. She said, "I loved Christopher Newport and I knew that I wanted to go there no matter what. The fact that I get to play lacrosse there is a dream come true and I am so grateful for the opportunity to be able to continue my lacrosse career. I didn't go the traditional way of college recruiting when it came to lacrosse but I got what I always wanted."

Entering as a transfer student her sophomore year, Lynskey really has seen the ways that AACS has prepared her for college and beyond. She mentions she has not only learned a great deal academically, but also has learned countless life lessons that have helped her personal and spiritual growth.  AACS has provided a place for her to grow on the lacrosse field.  She has learned what it means to be a Christian athlete both on and off the field.  She has been able to find the balance between playing fiercely and showing Christ through your play and your actions.

She expressed great appreciation to her parents and coaches along the way.  The constant support and mentorship has shaped her into the person she is today.  "I think it is rare that you find coaches who are knowledgeable about the sport, but also care greatly about their team" Lynskey said in regards to her coaches at AACS.

Coach Deanna Thorpe said, "Nicole gives 100% in everything she does from school work to the lacrosse field and consistently looks to improve every day.  It's no surprise that she jumped out of her dream of playing lacrosse in college and made it a reality. I couldn't be more proud of her! I'm happy to share in this reality with her and can't wait to see where she goes in life!"

Athletic Director, Jim Domoracki, said, "Nicole has worked hard throughout her years at AACS and it is good to see her efforts rewarded with the opportunity to continue to play at the next level.  I know she is excited for the next phase of her life and that the lessons learned at AACS will serve her well at CNU."
