Ross Signs With Glenville State

Reniyah Ross has signed with Glenville State College in Glenville, WV to play basketball.  Ross has been a four-year varsity starter and has been playing basketball since the age of four.  She has played almost every position, but has settled in as a guard.  She graduates highly decorated with basketball honors. She has been named to multiple All-Tournament teams, received multiple All-Conference awards, named to All-County teams, named Athlete of the Month, and reached 1000 points during her senior season.  She is currently 4th all-time leading scorer in school history.

Ross chose Glenville for the welcoming atmosphere, the bond with future teammates that she established on her visit, and the way the campus just simply felt like home.  It was the perfect union of sports and education.  She will have the opportunity to continue her basketball career and also have the ability to study her desired major of sports management while there.   She knew Glenville would be the right fit for her.

AACS has given Ross a solid foundation academically.  She has been able to establish good relationships with instructors and peers.  The challenging course work has given her proper preparation for the course work of college education.  She has established a positive academic mindset that has allowed her to value academic goals and achievements just as much as athletics ones.  She is grateful to God for allowing her to continue to develop an identity beyond that of being an athlete.

As an athlete at AACS, it has been stressed to value and take responsibility for your own well-being.  She knows the importance of proper nutrition and appropriate sleep habits.  She learned that it takes hard work to reach your goals especially when faced with adversity or setbacks.  Ross recovered from an ACL tear between her junior and senior year and knew she had to slow down, but also work hard to get back to playing.  She has learned what it means to be a good teammate and the benefit this brings to the team as a whole.  The ability to manage time amongst a busy schedule is something she will take with her into college and years beyond.

Head Coach and Athletic Director, Jim Domoracki, said, "It has been a priviledge to coach Reniyah the last few years.  She is talented, hardworking, and a great teammate.  It is a joy to see her have the opportunity to play in college.
