AACS Earns 1st and 2nd Place at Season Opening Meet

The AACS Track and Field team finished 1st overall for the boys and 2nd overall for the girls in their seasoning opening meet at Maryvale Prep on Saturday, April 6.

The boys 4x100 relay team of Elijah Pierre, Isaiah Hammond, Kerrell Clark, and Justin Hamilton earned 1st with a time of 46.5.  The boys 4x200 relay team of Pierre, Tytus Smith, Darrell Phillips, and Hamilton finished 2nd with a time of 1:40.9.  Hamilton also earned 2nd in the 100m while Pierre earned 3rd in the 100m and 200m.  Jalon Edwards finished 1st in the 110m hurdles and 3rd in the 300m hurdles.  The 4x800 team of Hayden Janes, Jack Marti, Tim Graustein, and Jack Nebbia took 2nd place.

For the girls team, Rachel Hutchins earned 1st in the 800m (2:50.5), 3rd in the 1600m (6:22.6), and was part of the 2nd place 4x800 relay team with Ridley LeMere, Betsy Ball, and Verity Fogarty.  Fogarty also finished 2nd in both the 1600m (6:09.1) and the 3200m (13:16.2).  Sage Young finished 2nd in the shot put while Malani Martin took 3rd in the discus.  April Black earned 2nd in the long jump and 4th in the 400m.

Coach Madelyn Smith said, "It was a great first meet of the season.  The freshman really stood out and are proving that they will make a big impact on the team this year."
