O'Ferrall and Sowinski Named April Athletes Of The Month

April Athletes of the Month

Shannon O'Ferrall

Year: Freshman

Sport: Softball

Position: Shortstop/Catcher

Shannon has been a key player for the softball team.  She has primarily played short stop this year, but has filled in at catcher and pitcher. She is currently leading the team with a .630 batting average.  She has accumulated 11 runs, 2 doubles, 2 homeruns, and 16 RBIs.  In their game against Roland Park, she went a perfect 4 for 4 from the plate with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.  She hit two home runs in the game against St. Paul's.

"As a freshman, Shannon has become a leader both on and off the field.  She quickly became one of the best players in the conference.  She is one of our leaders at the plate and is a key defensive player in the field.  Her ability to lead by example and inspire her teammates has made her a valuable member of our team."

Josh Danza, Varsity Head Coach

Andrew Sowinski

Year: Senior

Sport: Baseball

Position: Pitcher/1st Base

April has been a turnaround month for the baseball team and Andrew has been a major part of that.  In April alone, he had a .478 batting average including 13 singles, 3 doubles, and 2 homeruns.  He has accumulated 18 hits, 9 RBIs, and scored 16 runs.  Andrew struck out 52 total batters and allowed 11 hits while pitching.  As the starting pitcher in the game against Severn, he struck out 13 batters and only allowed 2 hits.

"Andrew is one of the leaders of our team when he is at the plate, in the field, or on the mound.  He works hard and is dedicated to the sport.  He is batting over .400 and is one of the tops in the state with strikeouts and has an ERA under two.  When he takes the mound, I know we have a chance to win."
