COACHING PHILOSOPHY

The core of AACS soccer is embedded in our Christian principles.  We seek not only to keep hold of these principles but also to actively fold them into the development of every young man to become a better player and a better teammate.  This is accomplished in an environment that focuses on these five aspects:

Direction and Purpose

Winning is our objective, but not our purpose.  Our purpose for AACS soccer is to create young men who are ambassadors of Christ through soccer.  This is reflected in our sportsmanship on the field and a heart for service, especially toward each other, in order to create a unified team moving in the same direction.

A Passion to Achieve

We urge AACS soccer players to always pursue excellence.  This does not begin with broad objectives, but with the smallest elements.  Through the tenacious refinement of the minute aspects, these young men will be able to use their hard work to achieve.  This extends beyond the playing field.

Shared Responsibility

Soccer is a highly interactive, free-flowing game.  Every goal scored and goal conceded is a sum of several actions.  Therefore, responsibility is shared amongst several players whether the result is positive or negative.

 A Collective Culture

We aim for our players to be “one in heart and mind” (Acts 4:32).  One of the beautiful aspects of soccer is that collective performance often trumps individual talent.          As such, we see it as vitally important for these young men to understand the team mindset, even if that means yielding individual preferences.

Lasting Relationships

Our program does not start and end at high school; it extends further in both directions.  We aim to build relationships with and between our young athletes and maintain them beyond their playing career at AACS.  The relationships on the field are built to last all our lives and that the memories and moments will be forever attached to them.
