Jenkins Signs With Chowan University

Senior Jay Jenkins has signed with Chowan University in Murfreesboro, NC to play lacrosse.  Jenkins has been a four-year varsity player at AACS along with two years of varsity soccer.  Jenkins has been playing lacrosse in the midfield and attack for the past 6 years.  During his lacrosse career, he was named a 1st team All-County club midfielder.

Jenkins chose Chowan because he wanted to play lacrosse and go to a smaller university with smaller class sizes.  He plans on studying Biology while there.  He was impressed with the facilities (both academic and athletic) that Chowan had to offer and is excited to start his college career there next year.

Since entering AACS as a 9th grader, Jenkins mentions how AACS has prepared him spiritually, academically, and athletically.  AACS has challenged him to grow in his faith and strengthen his walk with Christ.  He has had many teachers who have taken an interest in his life to help him succeed.  The courses have been challenging, but the teachers have been outstanding.  The coaches and teammates that he has had while at AACS have helped him develop his skills while playing a challenging league schedule.  He also looks to his parents for his success thus far.  The commitment and sacrifices they have shown him have helped him get to where he is now.  They have constantly pushed him to work hard and leave the results to God.

"Jay is a naturally gifted multi-sport athlete and a humble man.  He has shown great perseverance in battling from injury.  His dedication to lacrosse in the offseason and in the weight room really shows on the field.  We expect him to have a great senior year as a player and as a leader on the field." said Coach Steve Deterding.

Athletic Director Jim Domoracki said, "We are all proud of Jay.  He has been an outstanding lacrosse player for AACS and an even better person.  Chowan is blessed to have a person like Jay coming to their program."
