January Athletes of the Month

Paige Lovelace

Year: Freshman

Sport: Swimming

Paige has had an incredible season this winter. Highlights include breaking three individual school records and being part of three relay teams that set school records.  She broke the school record in the 100 Backstroke while finishing first in the championship with a time of 1:06.43.  This earned Paige IAAM All Conference Honors. She also broke school records in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 59.95 and 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:16:96. She narrowly missed out on winning the 200 IM at the Championship meet with a time of 2:27:45. She was the team's most consistent swimmer and leading scorer this season.

"Paige trained so hard this year. The fact is she is not only motivated to do well in the pool but she also has a sweet spirit that makes her success all the more inspiring. Her whole team is proud of her."

Rachel Duncan, Varsity Head Coach

Mekhi Marshall

Year: Junior

Sport: Basketball

Position: Guard

Mekhi has been a key player in the boys' basketball team's rise to second place in the MIAA A Red Division with a 9-4 league record.  The team is in a position to host an MIAA A playoff game for the first time in school history, quite a feat considering this is only the second year the team has played in the A Conference. Mekhi is the only non-senior starter and is a standout on defense. He guards some of the best players in the state on a nightly basis, often shutting them down. While he doesn't often put up incredible offensive stats, his defense and leadership have been critical to the team's success.

"Mekhi is an incredible young man. His toughness and unselfishness have been critical to our success.  He is a standup guy and a true joy to coach."

Doug Scheidt, Varsity Head Coach
