Football Defeats St. John's To Win Championship

The AACS boys varsity football team defeated St. John's Catholic Prep 21-16 to win the MIAA C Conference Championship.  This is the third time the Eagles have defeated the Vikings this season.  The two teams have seen each other the last three years in the conference championships and AACS has come out victorious two of the three times.

Head Coach Mike Lynn said, "They played well. The guys have been working hard.  You play a team three times in five weeks, that's a little rough.  They're a big, physical team.  Our guys didn't shy away from the challenge today and we've very proud of our team. (They're) the most unselfish team I've ever been around in 25 years of coaching."

The boys came back from being down 10-7 during the 3rd quarter and responded with two touchdowns to give them the 21-10 lead.  The offense came from a 63-yard interception by Thaddeus Standfield, a 60-yard pass from Ryan Idleman to Cameron Williams, and a 5-yard pass from Ryan Idleman to Joey Dixon.

"We did great in the second half, we came back and responded well.  We came out and just did what we're supposed to, what we know we can do." said sophomore quarterback, Ryan Idleman.

The Eagles finish the season undefeated in conference play and 7-2 overall.
