Varsity Cheer Earns 4th Place At Local Competitions

The AACS Girls Varsity Winter Cheerleading teams competed in two local competitions in January.  The first one was the Chesapeake Dynasty Winter Invitational at Chesapeake High School.  Competing against local public schools, AACS finished in 4th place and earned the "Best Dance" award.  A week later, the team competed in the Private-Public Cheerleading Invitational at Spalding High School.  The cheer team took home another 4th place finish, but was only .6 points off from 3rd place and only 1 point off from 2nd place.

Coach Sydney Edwards said, "We took the judges' feedback from the first competition and applied it, resulting in a higher score in the second competition.  The girls performed really well at both events and it was inspiring to see the energy from other teams.  My main focus this season was to emphasize the importance of teamwork amongst a team of various skill sets and experience levels.  With increased confidence and a lot of preparation, we were able to achieve our goal by the end of the season!"
