AACS provides a licensed and certified athletic trainer during after school hours for our athletic events and practices. The main objective of the athletic trainer is to provide quality medical care to our student-athletes, assisting them in maintaining/improving their physical and mental well being. Athletic trainers (ATs) are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who render service or treatment, under the direction of or in collaboration with a physician, in accordance with their education, training and the state's statutes, rules and regulations. As a part of the health care team, services provided by athletic trainers include primary care, injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergent care, examination and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.
When an athlete sustains an injury while participating in AACS interscholastic athletics, they will be cared for by the athletic trainer. If at any time your child sees a physician (except for routine dental, gynecological, or visual exams), a note of clearance from that doctor must be presented to the athletic trainer before the athlete is permitted to participate in their athletic activity.
We have partnered with Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. J.P. Rue. Dr. Rue, who specializes in Sports Medicine, has agreed to act as the AACS Team Physician.
